A jet was forced to return to the gate at an airport in Israel after passengers began receiving images of crashing planes on their mobile phones.
The airliner had been due to take off for Turkey, but the captain decided to go back to the terminal at Ben Gurion Airport and report the incident to the security team.
Security crews at the airport were mobilised to “take all necessary steps to ensure that there is no danger to passengers, including a re-inspection of the aircraft passengers and their luggage”, the Israel Airport Authority (IAA) was quoted as saying.
“Immediately after we make sure that there is no risk to the plane and its passengers, the security division will allow the flight to continue on its way,” it said.
The photos appear to have been sent to the phones using the AirDrop function on Apple phones and that it was not a cyber attack, the IAA told KAN Reshet Bet radio.

The source of the images appears to be someone who was on the plane.
The aircraft was identified as an AnadoluJet 737 by the Ynet website.
