Drill rapper Perm named as one of two victims of fatal crash and shooting in Brixton | UK News

Drill rapper Perm has been named online as one of two victims of a fatal crash and shooting in south London.

Two cars were driving at high speed when one hit a moped and a number of parked cars in Brixton just before 8pm on Sunday, the Metropolitan Police said.

A man, who was in his 20s, got out of the crashed car and was chased and shot dead by a gunman from the second car, which then drove away.

The man died at the scene on Railton Road.

The rider of the moped, said to be a Deliveroo employee also in his 20s, died as a result of his injuries.

Police said there is nothing to indicate he was a target.

Dean Whyte, Perm’s father and a boxing promoter, posted on Instagram: “RIP my boy, daddy loves you.”

The heavyweight boxer Dillian Whyte, a close friend of Dean Whyte who has been promoted by him, shared the tribute.

Deliveroo said: “This is an incredibly tragic incident and our hearts go out to the friends and family of those who have lost their lives.

“We are as shocked and saddened that such awful events can take place in one of our local communities and we have offered to support the police however we can.”

Police say there have been no arrests but inquiries continue.

Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove said: “I know I share the feelings of the whole community when I say that I’m shocked and saddened by this incident.

“I recognise the concern it will have caused locally and to the wider community, and we’re already working closely with our partners to provide reassurance and support to residents and others that have been affected.”

Week of violence

The deaths on Sunday take the total killed in shootings in the capital last week to four after a separate incident in Ilford, east London, on Tuesday that left two men dead and a third injured.

This follows shootings in July in which three men died in separate attacks in six days.

Before these killings, up until 19 July this year, there had been no firearms deaths in London since 31 October 2021.

In 2021, there were 12 fatal shootings of a total 134 homicides recorded by the Metropolitan Police.

In April, the force said it had seen a reduction in gun crime, with the number of all shootings, including fatal and non-fatal, down from 283 in 2019/20 to 196 in 2021/22.
