Two huge Christmas baubles bounced down a central London shopping street after being blown down in Storm Claudio’s strong winds.
Video shot early on Tuesday shows two giant silver balls being swept along Tottenham Court Road, narrowly missing cyclists, cars and buses.
The footage shows the first bauble rolling down the road before hitting a lamppost and shedding its silver foil coating.
The still-lit ball then carries on bouncing down the road before coming to a stop on the pavement.
The decoration is then followed by another, faster ball which blows straight down the middle of the street before stopping close to the first bauble.
Pedestrians and cyclists can be seen stopping to watch as cars swerve to avoid being hit.
Social media users described the scene as a “giant game of pinball” and compared it to a scene from a disaster movie.
There were no reports of any injuries and the baubles were brought under control a short time later.
Oxford Street’s annual Christmas light switch-on is due to take place on Wednesday evening and is expected to attract large crowds.
The windy and wet weather came after the UK enjoyed above-average temperatures as October came to an end, with the mercury reaching the low 20s in some parts resulting in balmy conditions for this time of year.
