A pub co-owned by former England cricket captain Stuart Broad has been severely damaged by a fire.
Firefighters from Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire were called to the Tap and Run in the village of Upper Broughton at around 3.20am on Saturday.
Eight fire crews from the two counties remained there throughout the night.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said a fire in the roof has caused “severe damage” to the property, with aerial ladders needed to put out the flames.
A statement on the pub’s website said the venue would not be trading “for the foreseeable future”.
Broad, 35, who plays for Nottinghamshire and has served as both One Day and Twenty20 England captains, part-owns the pub with retired cricketer Harry Gurney.
It won 2021 Pub of the Year in Leicestershire and featured on the Times’ list of best Sunday lunch spots in 2022.
