A pensioner has denied causing the death of a baby boy by carelessly driving and crashing into his pram.

Shelagh Robertson, 74, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court over the death of five-month-old Louis Thorold at Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, on 22 January 2021.

Robertson pleaded not guilty to the single charge of killing an infant by careless driving.

She is said to have been driving a Mazda 2 car on the A10 when she allegedly crashed into the pram, killing Louis and seriously injuring his mother, who was pushing him.

Louis’ parents, Chris and Rachael Thorold, listened to the hearing from the public gallery.
