New corgi emoji unveiled by Royal Family to mark Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations | UK News

The Royal Family has unveiled a new emoji of a crown-wearing corgi called PJ that can be used ahead of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations next week.

The monarchy’s official Twitter account revealed a cartoon image of the Queen’s favourite dog breed this morning, alongside the message: “Meet PJ the corgi, our Jubilee emoji!”

The corgi is seen wearing a crown of purple and platinum, which are the colours of the Jubilee and has his tongue sticking out.

It will also appear automatically on Twitter when users include celebratory Jubilee hashtags.

The Royal Family’s Twitter account added: “PJ will appear whenever you use #PlatinumJubilee #HM70 #PlatinumPartyatthePalace #PlatinumJubileePageant or #TheBigJubileeLunch and we’re hoping that as many of you as possible will use PJ to help celebrate the Jubilee here on Twitter.”

Clarence House replied to the post by saying: “A warm and waggy-tailed welcome to PJ the corgi!”.

They followed the message with a paw-print emoji.

The Queen is known for her love of the short-legged dogs as she has owned more than 30 corgis during her reign.

Most of her pets have been descendants of her first corgi, Susan, who was given to her on her 18th birthday in 1944.

She currently has three dogs, which are an elderly dorgi (corgi/dachshund cross) called Candy, and two corgi puppies called Muick and Sandy.

The Queen’s senior dresser, Angela Kelly, revealed that the new puppies were a constant source of joy for the monarch during lockdown, particularly after her husband Prince Philip died last year.
