Queen shares tea with Paddington Bear

The gig kicked off with a film of The Queen having tea with Paddington Bear, bringing back memories of the video she shot with Daniel Craig as James Bond for the London 2012 Olympics.

The film showed the Queen and Paddington sharing tea and sandwiches, before they tapped out the beat of Queen’s We Will Rock You on teacups.

That cued up Queen and Adam Lambert to get the show going.

Lee Mack makes partygate joke

The comedian, performing as an MC for the night, took aim at Boris Johnson with a partygate joke in the opening minutes of the event.

Mack told the crowds: “We are here right outside the gates of Buckingham Palace for the party of a lifetime. And I tell you what, finally you can say the words ‘party’ and ‘gate’ – and it’s a positive.”

Later on, Stephen Fry prompted laughter from the crowd by joking about how many prime ministers the Queen had “tolerated” during her service.

Diversity takes us through 60 years of British music

Ashley Banjo and his dance troupe Diversity took us through energetic routine to a number of British songs popular throughout the Queen’s 70-year reign.

Craig David takes to the stage in a glitter tracksuit

Rapper and singer Craig David performed Ain’t Giving Up and Re-Rewind.

The Obamas and Bond actor Daniel Craig then wished the Queen well in video messages.

William and George sing Sweet Caroline

Later on, singer Rod Stewart performed a short set which concluded with a cover of Sweet Caroline.

Although he appeared to almost lose his voice at times, Prince William and Prince George were seen singing along.

After finishing the Neil Diamond hit, Stewart wrapped things up saying: “Up the NHS” and “God save the Ukraine”.

Royals enjoy themselves in the best seats

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge sat with George and Charlotte in the royal box, along with Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and Princess Anne.

All were seen dancing along and waving flags through the concert.

Duran Duran

During the band’s performance of Girls on Film, images of the Queen through the years were shown on the front of Buckingham Palace.

Diana Ross returns

To wrap up the night, Motown legend Diana Ross returned for her first live UK show in 15 years.
