UK weather: Temperatures could soar above 30C across UK this week – how hot will it be near you? | UK News

Britain should start preparing for its “first properly hot summer’s day” as temperatures could climb as high as the late thirties this week, according to forecasters.

Temperatures are expected to soar to the high 30s in some parts of England over the coming weekend, which could bring thundery conditions.

The Met Office says that a northwesterly wind is also likely through the weekend, which may bring cooler temperatures, however, there is a chance for warm weather to remain in the south.

“There’s not been much in the way of exceptionally warm days or hot days yet this year, but that is set to change,” the Met Office’s Steven Keates said.

“We’re set to see probably a brief spell of hot weather at the end of this coming week.”

Read on to find out what the weather will be like in your region.

South East England

South East England may experience temperatures of 32C (89.6F) on Friday, although Mr Keates added: “It could possibly be a little hotter than that… mid-thirties are possible.”

If the prediction is accurate, Britain will be hotter than Portugal, Jamaica, Costa Rica, the Canary Islands and Cyprus.

It would also mean the hottest day of the year so far, eclipsing the record of 27.5C (81.5F) set in mid-May at Heathrow.

“We should beat that comfortably on Friday and potentially exceed it, or get very close to it, on Wednesday and Thursday as well,” Mr Keates said.

Temperatures could also reach around 34C (93.2F) on Saturday before cooling off on Sunday.

East of England

Like the rest of England, temperatures are expected to become very warm by Thursday, however, this region could experience scorching highs of possibly 38C (100.4F) on Friday and 34C (93.2F) on Saturday.

West of England

Temperatures will peak on Friday in the high 20s this week, before a hot weekend of possible highs of 35C (95F) on Friday and 34C (93.2F) on Saturday.

North West England

Forecasters predict it will stay largely dry and sunny in the North West this week, though the sunshine will turn hazy at times. It will heat up significantly by the end of the week, with the likes of Manchester set to experience highs of 33C (91.4C) on Friday and 32C (89.FC) on Saturday.

East Midlands

The Met Office predicts it will potentially become “very warm” on Thursday and Friday in the region after a fine and dry week.

Temperatures are predicted to soar to 32C (89.6F) on Friday and possibly 35C (95F) on Saturday before some expected rainfall and cooler weather on Sunday.

The weather will be similar to the East this week, with temperatures beginning to rise on Friday in the high 20s. Some cities in this region such as Birmingham could see highs of 33C (91.4F) on Friday and 35C (95F) on Saturday.

Yorkshire and the Humber

The Met Office predicts variable amounts of cloud and sunny spells this week, and potentially becoming very warm by day, but some locally cool nights are possible. Temperatures could reach 32C (89.6F) on Friday and 25C (77F) on Saturday.

Wales

It will be dry and sunny in Wales this week, with temperatures reaching 23C (73.4F) on Tuesday and expected to go higher from Wednesday. It will stay dry for the rest of the week with lots of sunshine, turning hazy at times, and become warmer mainly in the east while feeling fresher in the west. Temperatures in Cardiff are expected to reach 31C (87.8F) on Friday and Saturday.

Scotland

It will be cloudy at times in the north but otherwise a lot of dry and bright conditions towards the Borders – and it will warm up by Thursday and Friday, peaking at 22C (71.6F). Forecasters say a northwesterly wind is likely through the weekend, which may bring cooler temperatures.

Northern Ireland

Belfast will be cloudy at times this week but there will be a lot of dry and bright conditions towards the capital, and it will feel quite warm by Thursday and Friday, possibly peaking at 26C (78.8F). However, some rainfall can be expected on Saturday along with a dip in temperature to around 13C (55.4F).
