Southa Africa’s destructive batsman AB De Villiers will captain the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise in the absence of Indian skipper Virat Kohli. The head coach of the RCB franchise Daniel Vettori confirmed the news in the team’s first press conference ahead of IPL 10.
The former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori said that Kohli would join with the team on April 2nd and the BCCI doctors will monitor the recovery progress of the talismanic batsman over the course of the subsequent few days.
“He will come in on April 2. Between now and then, the BCCI doctors and physio will speak to us and our medical staff will get a clearer picture. Right now, we don’t have a clear picture on his availability. We’ll know in the next few days,” Vettori said.

He added,“The likely scenario is that AB de Villiers will take over the duties, but we’ll answer that once we find out if Virat is out.”
After the 8-wicket win against Australia, Virat Kohli had said that he still requires a few weeks to recover from the shoulder injury. He sustained shoulder injury during the 3rd test and forced him to rule out of the last game of the series.
