South African cricketer AB De Villiers wants to reduce his workload to keep himself as fresh after years of International schedule.
The 31 year old AB De Villiers has been regarded as the backbone of the South African test team’s batting but he plans to cut back his participation in all forms of cricket.
“There are a lot of rumours flying around but for the last two or three years, the only talk I’ve been doing is (about) keeping myself fresh and having a bit of rest here and there,” De Villiers said on Monday after the Afrikaans-language Rapport newspaper claimed he was retiring from international cricket.
“The most important thing for me is to just enjoy my cricket. Moving forward, it’s important to look at my schedule. That’s the talk in the camp, maybe for me not to play all kinds of cricket,” he said in a television interview before the start of the third day’s play in a Test match against England.
AB De Villiers indicated he may cut IPL from his International schedule.
AB De Villiers said “If I play all IPL games, I gets tired. It is difficult to play all IPL games in Hot Indian summer”.
He scored 49 against England in first test, averages 51.39 in Test, 54.21 in one-day internationals and 31.15 in Twenty20s.
In the ICC Rankings, AB De Villiers is the No. 1 ODI Batsman and No. 3 Test Batsman.
