The Special General Meeting (SGM) is scheduled to be held on May 7. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will announce the squad on Monday. All the other seven teams have announced their squad and the deadline of announcing the squad has been surpassed by BCCI which was 25 April.
The Committee of Administratiors (CoA) wrote a letter to BCCI to announce the squad for Champions Trophy as soon as possible, the participation of India in the Champions Trophy remains doubt.
BCCI Official said,“Yes, the team will be selected on Monday as we want to work in tandem with the Committee of Administrators and don’t want to delay the process of team selection. But yes, that doesn’t change our stance as far as withdrawing from the tournament is concerned.”
“To be fair, announcing the team doesn’t have a bearing on BCCI’s final decision on whether India will play in the tournament or not. The agenda for Sunday’s meeting remains the same.” he further added.
Champions Trophy commences on June 1 with hosts England taking on Bangladesh. India will start their title defense against Pakistan on June 4.
