The right-handed destruction batsman Kevin Pietersen will not play the 2017 season of the IPL, citing a busy winter season as a reason for not entering the player auction scheduled for later this month. The IPL season 10 starts from April 5 and ends on May 21.
“FYI – I won’t be going into the IPL auction. My winter has been too busy with all my travel & I don’t want to spend April/May away too!” Pietersen tweeted on Friday.
KP made his IPL debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009 and played two seasons for them. Later, he was bought by Delhi Daredevils franchise in 2011. He scored 305 runs in 8 innings with an unbeaten century for Delhi team in 2011.
Due to injury, he missed 2013 season but came with a bang in 2014 season and captained Delhi Daredevils. In 2015, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him but he was not available to play matches for them due to injury. Rising Pune Supergiants was bought him for IPL 9 but he played only few matches and returned to home due to injury. He had good season in this BBL as he played for Melbourne Stars.
