Martin Guptill Family & Earlier Life:

Martin Guptill was born on 30 September 1986 in Auckland, New Zealand. He was born to Peter Guptill (father), who was truck driver and Jan Henderson (mother). Guptill has a sister, Raewyn Thomas.

His wife is radio host, New Zealand Herald Focus co-hosto and Sky Sport sidelines reporter Laura McGoldrick, while his mother-in-law, Leanne McGoldrick is Martin’s agent. His cousin is his Auckland Aces teammate, Michael Guptill-Bunce.

Guptill attended Avondale College and played in the school’s 1st XI cricket team. He was also a prefect in his final year. Guptill has only 2 toes in his left foot as he lost his 3 toes due to accident at the age of just 13.

– He made his first-class debut for Auckland in 2006. He scored 4-ball duck and 99 in the first and second innings respectively in his debut first-class.

– In January 2009, he made his ODI debut against West Indies and scored a brilliant century. He became the first New Zealand batsman to score century in ODI debut.

– In March 2009, he made his Test debut against India. He scored 14 in first and 48 in second innings.

– In the 2013 tour to England, Martin Guptill led the New Zealand team. He scored two back-to-back centuries in the succesfull chase. Guptill smashed 103* for the succesfull chase and scored 189* in the next match to chase 359 runs.

– In 2015 Cricket World Cup, Martin Guptill surpassed his best of 189* as he scored 237*(163) against West Indies.
