Former Indian skipper Ms Dhoni is all set to be awarded the Padma Award by the President of India Pranab Mukherjee on the evening of Republic day at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Ms Dhoni will receive the Padma Award along with other two from Sports category. The BCCI recommended Ms Dhoni for this award.
In 2009, he received Padma Shri award for his brilliant skills on the cricket field. That was the Dhoni’s second nationalized award. The first award was Khel Ratna award, which was awarded by Sports Ministry in 2007. He received this Khel Ratna Award after Indian team won the first edition of T20I World Cup at South Africa.
The Sports Ministry was awarded the Khel Ratna Award to Ms Dhoni in 2007. As he already won Padma Award, the second time he will receive the Padma Award. In 2014, BCCI recommended Ms Dhoni’s name, but they did not considered his name. But this year, he will receive Padma Bhushan Award. He will become the eleventh cricketer to receive Padma Bhushan Award.
