Personal Life & Family
OPS was born in 14th January, 1951 to OttakaraThevar and Palaniammal Naachiar. After completing his schooling in hometown, He studied Bachelor of Arts at Karutharawuthar college in Uthamapalaiyam. Panneerselvam belongs to Tamil Maravar caste, which is a sub-caste of Thevars. Family – OPS married to P. Vijayalakshmi and the couple has three children.

Political Career & Facts
Joined his political career in DMK as ground level activist at the age of 18 in 1969. Then moved to ADMK after MGR slipt up from the party.
He was sworn as Cheif Minister of tamil nadu thrice during the period of 2001 to 2017.
First time as Chief Minister: In 2001 to 2002, Jayalaitha was barred from holding office by the Supreme Court of India. So he charged as CM from ADMK party. After Jaya back from the caste, he steps down in 2002.
When Jayalalitha decided not to attend Assembly in 2006 Panneerselvam charged as Opposite leader of Tamil Nadu assembly. He was elected to be the member of Tamil Nadu legislative assembly from Periyakulam.
Second term as CM: After Supreme Court verdict against Jayalalitha in 2014, She was arrested. During that period OPS as sworn as Chief Minister of TN for second time. He steps down from the position after JJ back.
Third Term: OPS elected as Chief Minister of tamil nadu after death of Jayalalitha in 2016.
