Ross Taylor makes encouraging return : New Zealand batsman believes he will be back to the squad with full fitness before the start of the Twenty20 World Cup in India.
New Zealand’s senior batsman was having his first hitout since sidelined by a left side strain during a T20 international against Pakistan in Wellington in mid-January.
Ross Taylor was ruled out of the home series against Pakistan and Australia due to that injury, but the batsman feels he would be back to the squad before his team’s first game of the world cup tournament against India.
Taylore made an unbeaten 26 off just 16 balls against South Island.
Ross Taylor said,”It was good to get through that [injury], and I’m confident it will get a lot better come the next couple of weeks,” Taylor was reported as saying by NZN. “The physios tell me that it’s good to stretch it out and over time it will loosen off. I’m sure by the time we play our first game, it’s going to be 100%.”
New Zealand are in a second-round pool for the World T20 alongside Australia, Pakistan, India and the winner of the qualifying pool played among Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands and Oman.
