Indian Team is currently playing the 4th test match of the series against England at Mumbai. Today, the medical team of BCCI ruled out Wriddhiman Saha and Mohammad Shami out of the fifth match. The last test match of the series to be played in Chennai that starts on Dec 16.
A BCCI release on Sunday stated: “Shami has soreness in his right knee and has been advised rest and rehabilitation. He will be going to the National Cricket Academy, Bengaluru to start his recovery programme. xSaha who suffered a hamstring tendon injury in the second Test of the ongoing series against England at Vizag, is undergoing rehabilitation programme at the NCA.”
Saha already missed the Mohali test due to hamstring injury while Shame had trouble with his right knee. Shami will now head to NCA (National Cricket Academy) in Bengaluru for the rehabilitation. Saha is also at the NCA following the recovery program.
In 2016, he played 9 tests and scored 366 runs with a decent average of 40.66. Behind the stumps, he dismissed 19 players during the year.
On the other hand, Shami played 10 tests and picked up 29 wickets with the best bowling figure of 4/66 against West Indies. Shardul Thakur was added to the team as the replacement but Bhuvneshwar Kumar made his name in the XI in Mumbai Test.
Another wicket-keeper Parthiv Patel who made his debut in 2002, was named as the replacement for Saha. Parthiv Patel did a decent job with bat and also behind the stumps.
