The shocking moment a young mother narrowly escapes death after fainting and falling under a train in Argentina has been caught on video.

The 24-year-old woman is seen apparently fainting as she walks on the platform and tumbles under an arriving train.

Onlookers watch in shock as she is seen to fall off the edge and disappear into the gap between the train and the platform.

The video, released by the Argentinian railway company, shows the victim miraculously pulled back onto the platform before being treated by medical staff.

The terrifying accident happened at Independencia Station in the town of González Catán, not far from the capital Buenos Aires.

The woman was discharged from hospital a few days later.

She told Argentinian media she does not remember the incident, which happened as she was heading to meet friends for lunch.

She was left with a rib fracture that pierced her liver, a contusion to her head and a skull fracture.
