Suresh Raina, who was included in the ODI squad after almost 1 year, will not play in the first match of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand at Dharmasala. BCCI tweeted that Suresh Raina is unavailable for Sunday’s ODI due to viral fever.

Raina, who suffering from severe fever since last 1 week, did not played for UP against Madhya Pradesh in Ranji Trophy.
He last played ODI for India was the fifth/last match of the ODI series against South Africa in Mumbai as India lost by 214 runs. For his poor performance against South Africa series, he was removed by the BCCI for the ODI series against Australia and Zimbabwe.

And then he performed well in the FC cricket and BCCI called him for the ODI series. But, he will not play the first match against New Zealand. Raina’s absence should open the door for Mandeep Singh’s ODI debut. He was played the T20I matches for India when India toured to Zimbabwe earlier this year.
