Natarajan was born of May 27, 1991 in Salem. Born in a poor class family, his father is a daily wage worker in a saree manufacturing unit while his mother sells snacks at a small roadside shop.
He is the eldest among the five siblings. Till he was 20, he played only with tennis ball and had not represented either school or college in the game. Then later he moved to Chennai to player cricket and first played in the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) fourth division league representing BSNL in 2010-11.

– He grabbed the attention of cricket fans during Tamil Nadu Premier League. He bowled six yorkers in a Super Over against Tuti Patriots during the first season of the TNPL.
– He also had a good season in the last edition of the Ranji Trophy as he picked up 27 wickets in 9 matches.
