In T20 format, Grounds are getting smaller and bats are going broader. More over, only 20 overs per innings of 10 wickets means batsman can take chances to smash every balls. They knowing their team won’t be bowled out with playing 20 overs.
This makes a following list a very interesting one: The record of most number of sixes hit in an inning in a T20 cricket.
Australia vs England – 29th Aug 2013 (Southampton) : Australia batted first and hit 18 sixes in their innings and India finished with 248/6 in 20 overs. In this Innings, Australia batsmen contributing to this record were: Aaron Finch (14 sixes), Shaun Marsh (1 six), Shane Watson (2 sixes), Mathew Wade (1 Six).
18 sixes in 20 overs.. not enough!! With T20 cricket fast evolving, we are hopeful a team will someday beat this record as well.
Netherland vs Ireland – 21st March 2014 : A world T20I qualier game in which Ireland batted first and posted a solid total of 189/4, hitting 11 sixes and Netherland chased down easily in just 14.1 overs to make history and go through. Stephen Mybrugh scoring second fastest T20 fifty and other basmans contributed. Netherland Team hitted 19 sixes that day, a record for an inning and breaking all time record.
