Olly Murs has announced his engagement to bodybuilder girlfriend Amelia Tank.

Sharing the happy news on Instagram, the singer and TV presenter revealed he proposed on Saturday during a beach break.

Murs, 38, posted a photograph of the pair on a cliff edge, while Tank shared a video of her leaping into his arms after the proposal, and said she was able to share the moment with her mum and younger brother.

“Here’s to forever with you,” she said in one post on Instagram Stories.

Both captioned their posts with the date, “04.06.2022”.

Murs rose to fame on The X Factor in 2009, coming second to Joe McElderry, but went on to forge a successful pop career with four number one albums to his name. He is also known for his TV work, having presented spin-off show The Xtra Factor with the late Caroline Flack, as well as one series of the main show, before becoming a coach on The Voice.

Tank is a bodybuilder who won the Pure Elite bikini competition in 2021, with Murs supporting her at the event.

They began their relationship while he was taking time out from the entertainment industry to have surgery to repair knee ligament damage.

Their romance began after they had previously spent time working out together and been on a few dates which had not worked out initially.

In 2020, Murs told Good Morning Britain: “After my operation we got in contact again… I was away from this world of showbiz and just at home.

“I had my hair shaven, I had one leg, a big belly – I don’t know why she’s with me.”

Celebrities including reality star Vicky Pattison, TV presenters Kirsty Gallacher and Amanda Holden, comedian Jason Manford and actress Michelle Keegan were among the thousands congratulating the couple on social media.

“FANTASTIC,” wrote Holden, while Manford posted: “Ahh love this! Congrats you pair of legends.”

Fellow X Factor alumni Aston Merrygold and Marvin Humes, from JLS, also sent their congratulations to the pair.
