Manchester City have held off Liverpool to win the Premier League by a single point after scoring three goals in five minutes to complete a stunning comeback against Aston Villa.

Pep Guardiola’s side found themselves 2-0 down as Villa – managed by former Liverpool hero Steven Gerrard – threatened to pull off an almighty shock at the Etihad Stadium.

But two goals from substitute Ilkay Gundogan and one from Rodri made it 3-2 after a remarkable spell deep into the second half.

It meant Liverpool’s 3-1 win at home to Wolves was in vain.

Things were equally tense at the bottom of the table but Leeds stayed up after winning 2-1 at Brentford, meaning Burnley are relegated after losing by the same score at Newcastle.

Tottenham secured the final Champions League place after thrashing Norwich 5-0, while Manchester United held on to the final Europa League spot despite losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace.

Manchester City looked like they could finish the season without a trophy after Cash and Coutinho put Villa two up – but dismay turned to wild celebrations at the Etihad after a remarkable turnaround.

It was a final day of the season that well and truly lived up to the hype as Guardiola’s side won their fourth title in five years.

Liverpool did all they could at Anfield, coming from behind to win 3-1 courtesy of Mane and two late goals from Salah and Robertson.

While City trailing for much of their match, it looked liked the Reds had a golden opportunity to snatch the title – but the swift Etihad turnaround snuffed out those hopes.
