A women has been left with potentially life-changing injuries after being attacked by a dog in Lancaster.
The victim, a cyclist in her 40s, was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries after the animal stayed latched on to her for several minutes before she broke free.
She was cycling with a friend on a cycle track behind the Priory Church, close to the Millennium Bridge, on 5 May and had to brake to avoid a woman and child, according to police.
They were later approached by a man, who had two brown Staffordshire bull terrier or bullmastiff-type dogs and accused them of almost knocking into his child.
Police said he slapped one of the dogs on the head, causing it to bite the victim on the upper leg and stay attached to her for several minutes before she broke free.
