Kim Kardashian has called for the father of a 10-year-old girl killed in the Texas school shooting to be temporarily released from prison so he can attend her funeral.

Eliahna Cruz Torres was among the 19 children killed by an 18-year-old gunman who went on a murderous rampage at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde on 24 May.

A total of 21 people were shot dead after a high school dropout Salvador Ramos entered the school armed with a handgun and rifle.

Kardashian tweeted that Eliahna’s family are trying to get temporary release for Eli Torres, who is in prison for a “non violent drug offence”, to attend his daughter’s funeral.

She has asked the Bureau of Prisons to grant him temporary release so he can say “his last goodbye to his baby girl”.

“Every parent deserves that right,” she said.

Kardashian added that the family’s request has “so far” been denied.

This week, funerals were planned for 11 children killed in the attack and teacher Irma Garcia.

Funeral directors, embalmers and others from across Texas travelled to Uvalde to help the town cope with so many burials.

Since the attack, police have faced criticism for their response amid growing public anger.

The gunman’s rampage lasted more than an hour before law enforcement broke in and shot and killed Ramos.

Police have now admitted that it was the “wrong decision” not to storm the classroom as forces were delayed for over 40 minutes.

Parents had to be restrained outside, desperately wanting to enter the school themselves to take action, while panicked children called 911 from inside the building.

The US Department of Justice has said it will investigate the police response.

After the attack, Kardashian wrote on social media that “current laws in our country around gun control are not protecting our children”.

“Semi automatic weapons, assault weapons, weapons of war, should not be legally sold or owned by American civilians.

“They should be banned. Period,” she added.
