American rapper Trouble, who collaborated with Drake and The Weeknd, has been killed in a shooting just outside the city of Atlanta aged 34.
Trouble, whose real name was Mariel Semonte Orr, was best known for his music showing the grittier side of life in his hometown city.
He was shot in the chest in a property just outside the city at around 3.20am.
Def Jam, one of the rapper’s record labels, shared a tribute to him on Instagram.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the children, loved ones, and fans of Trouble,” it said.
“A true voice for his city and an inspiration to the community he proudly represented.”
Fellow Georgia rapper 2 Chainz posted a picture of Trouble on Instagram, saying: “I swear I hate the devil man and he out here working overtime.
“Praying for your family and peace my brother.”
A suspect, identified as Jamichael Jones, 33, of Atlanta, was being sought on warrants based on allegations of murder, home invasion and aggravated assault, Rockdale County Sheriff’s spokesperson Jedidia Canty said.
Police are searching known addresses in a bid to track down the suspect.
Jones is believed to have been involved in a “domestic situation” with the woman Trouble was visiting, and he and Trouble did not know each other, Ms Canty said.
As fans used social media to grieve and express anger over Trouble’s death, the Sheriff’s spokesperson added: “I know there are a lot of people that are really upset right now.”
The woman, who was not identified, was not described as injured.
