The Tamil Nadu wicket-keeper batsman, who plays for Gujarat Lions in the IPL, replaced injured Manish Pandey in the Indian team for the Champions Trophy 2017.
Dinesh Karthik has scored lot of runs for Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League season 10. He has scored 361 runs in 14 matches at an average of 36.10. He was also played for Team India in the Champions Trophy which was held in they year 2013. But, he did not get much chance to prove his worth.
India will play their first match against Pakistan on June 4. The Team India will go into the tournament as the defending champions. In the Champions Trophy 2013, India defeated hosts England by just 5 runs in the final and won the Champions Trophy. Last time, India played under Ms Dhoni but this time, India will play under new captain Virat Kohli.
Virat Kohli has scoring good runs after getting captaincy. Apart from this, India beat England in ODI series under Virat Kohli’s captaincy. India will face Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa in their group matches in the Champions Trophy 2017.
