The Bangladesh’s limited over captain Mashrafe Mortaza announced his retirement from T20I on April 4. He will play his last T20I against Sri Lanka in the ongoing two-match T20I series.
“This T20 series is going to be the last of my career,” Mortaza said at the toss during the first T20I. “I would like to thank the BCB, my family, friends, teammates, coaching staff and all the fans who have been supporting and praying for me for the last 15-16 years.”
Mortaza made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in 2006 and has played 52 T20Is. So far, he grabed 39 wickets at an average of around 40. He captained Bangladesh in 26 matches and won 9 of them.
Mashrafe Mortaza will continue as skipper in the ODI formats. His next project is a tri-series against Ireland and New Zealand.
