Shreyas Iyer was born on 6 December 1994 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His father was Santosh Iyer and mother, Rohini Iyer. Iyer has a sister.
At the age of 12, Shreyas Iyer was spotted by Pravin Amre. Then, Pravin Amre coached Shreyas Iyer in his early days. In his early days, his collegemates were compared him with Virender Sehwag. Iyer won some trophies for his college team.
