Washington Sundar broke some records during IPL 10 – Scooptimes

On May 22 night, cricket fans witnessed one of the best Indian Premier League final. Mumbai Indians defeated Rising Pune Supergiant by just 1 run to win the IPL 2017 Trophy. With that win, Mumbai Indians became the first team to three IPL trophies.

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma, who won the toss in the final game, opted to bat first. Pune bowlers never allowed MI batsmen to settle as Mumbai managed to score just 19 runs in 20 overs.

But, Mumbai Indians bowlers did really well during 2nd innings as they won the final game against RPS in the very last ball. But, a little shining star has announced his arrival with a bang.

Rising Pune Supergiant’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who was suffering injury, ruled out of the IPL 10 before the season starts. As the replacement, Rising Pune Supergiant franchise included Washington Sundar in the squad.

A 17-year old spinner Washington Sundar played IPL final for Rising Pune Supergiant against Mumbai Indians. And he became the youngest player to play the final in IPL. Previously, the record was held by Ravindra Jadeja, when he played the final game for Rajasthan Royals in the very first edition of IPL.

In the final game against Mumbai Indians, Sundar conceded just 13 runs in his 4 over. For a full 4 overs in an IPL final, he has conceded the least number of runs. Previously, his senior Ravichandran Ashwin held this record, conceding just 16 runs in an IPL.

Washington Sundar became third youngest player to IPL after Sarfaraz Khan and Pradeep Sangwan. In IPL 2017, Sundar has played 8 matches and picked up 11 wickets.

During the Qualifier 1 match against Mumbai Indians, Washington Sundar won the Man of the Match award. And again he broke one more record as he was the youngest player to win the MOM award.
