Britain’s most successful Olympians, Jason and Laura Kenny, have been knighted and made a dame respectively at Windsor Castle after winning 12 gold medals between them.

The married couple is among current and former Team GB legends who will receive honours on Tuesday at Windsor Castle for their services to cycling.

Sir Jason is Team GB’s most decorated Olympian, having won nine medals – seven of them gold – when he starred in Beijing 2008, London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. Dame Laura is a five-time gold medallist.

An investiture is the day when someone who has been awarded an honour received it in person from the Queen or a member of the royal family.

It comes after the pair, who starred in the 2020 Tokyo, 2016 Rio and 2008 Beijing Olympics, suffered from a miscarriage last year due to an ectopic pregnancy.
