Prince Louis’s Jubilee antics fuelled by ‘complete sugar high’, Mike Tindall says | UK News

Prince Louis’s adorable antics during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee were fuelled by a “complete sugar high”, Mike Tindall has revealed.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s youngest, four, stole the hearts of the nation as he pulled all his naughtiest faces during the flypast on the first day of celebrations.

Then, on Sunday afternoon when the Jubilee Pageant was making its way up The Mall, he was on top form again, making faces at his mum and putting his hand over her mouth when she spoke to him, to the delight of those watching on television.

Tindall, a former England rugby international who is married to the Queen’s granddaughter, Zara, said there were “lots of sweets” around.

Speaking on his podcast The Good, The Bad and The Rugby, Tindall said: “Louis was just wanting to have fun, and my two are always mischievous, so it was (about) trying to keep a lid on.

“There were a lot of sweets out back there, so they had complete sugar highs. It’s tough for them, they’re all young sitting there from two to five or whatever, it’s a long time, (and) as any parent knows you just do what needs to be done.”

At one point during the pageant, Tindall teased Louis, letting the young prince know he was keeping watch over him.

Kate chuckled as she looked on.

Discussing the Queen’s sketch with Paddington Bear, Tindall said Her Majesty is “officially now a qualified actor”.

He added: “She was bang on. I’ve always said she was funny but she nailed it.”

Tindall’s Jubilee highlight was a meal the Queen’s grandchildren enjoyed after Trooping the Colour.

“We had a good cousins’ lunch on the Thursday – that was a highlight,” he said.

The former sportsman was sitting next to Boris Johnson at the pageant on Sunday and revealed the prime minister made a faux pas about England’s win in the Rugby World Cup.

“He asked a bit about rugby. He thought we won in 99, but there you go,” Tindall said.

They won in 2003.
