Earlier Life 

Born in 1954 at Nedungulam, Edappadi, Salem district in Tamil nadu, India. From farmer family, Palanisamy completed upto 10th grade in his schooling. He was belongs to Gounder Caste/ Community. On representing his howntown, He popularly now as ‘Edappadi’ Palanisami in his party and media.

Starting of the Journey 

Late in 1980’s Edappadi joined All India Anna Dravida Munnatra kazhagam (AIADMK) when M.G. Ramachandran as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Served the party from basic post in beginning phase of his career and then later elected as cadidate for MLA in his constituency.

Political Career 

Being power in his hometown Edapadi constituency in Salem district, he has won state election in 1989, 1991, 2011 and 2016. He was one among the senior minister of ADMK when Jayalalitha served as Chief minister of Tamil Nadu all these years.

Loyalist of Jayalalithaa 

Palaniswamy is popularly known as Loyalist of Jayalalithaa in ADMK party. He was ranked as No. 3 in Jayalalitha’s cabinet after his fellow senior leaders in ADMK party O. Panneerselvam, Natham R. Viswanathan and R. Vaithilingam. He close confidant of Jayalalithaa, who relay all important decision taken by her to other party members.

Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu 

After Jayalalithaa death in December 2016 and Panneerselvam Sacked from ADMK party with the help of V.K. Sasikala and other MLA support, Edappadi K. Palanisami elected as 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in February 2017. With four years of term left with AIADMK, Palaniswamy all set to implement Jayalalithaa’s projects in forthcoming days.
