He played the brilliant knock to nearly pull off an impossible chase against Australia’s Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra in a tour game.
Australia’s Prime Minister XI batted first and scored 336/6 in 50 overs. In the next innings, the West Indies looked in a strong position at 200 runs in 36 overs. With 7 wickets in the hand, they have to chase the huge target. However, two wickets fell to 225/4 in the 41st over. Russell comes into the ground and did his best. He smashed Sixes and Fours everywhere. Ricky Ponting leading the Prime Minister’s XI, had no mindset to stop Russell.
He hitted the first ball was a huge maximum over the boundary. He smashed 54 runs from just 24 balls including 3 fours and 5 huge sixes. But his team made only 310 runs and lost by 23 runs.
