Brendon McCullum unlikely to play third ODI against Sri Lanka in Nelson after injuring his back during the second ODI in Christchurch.

New zealand could get an earlier than expected tast of life without Brendon McCullum on Thursday. Brendon McCullum likely to miss the Third One-day international against Srilanka.

McCullum, who will retire from cricket in February, hurting his back on the boundary during Second ODI against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

“He’s still pretty sore”, coach Mike Hesson said. And he said, “McCullum likely to miss the 3rd ODI”

New Zealand are leading the Five match series 2-0 after defeating the Srilankan team in the first two matches.

Kane Williamson, who missed the First two ODI matches due to sore knee, is expected to play the 3rd ODI against Srilanka. And he captain the New Zealand team if McCullum is unavailable.

Coach Mike Hesson said, “Adam Milne, who missed the second game due to troublesome heel, will play in the next ODI”.

Corey Anderson and Grant Elliot, two stars of World Cup that made New zealand final. They are selected in T20I squad against Srilanka.

Both are returing from injuries and coach Mike Hesson said, “Anderson would be restricted for only Batting duties”.

Matt Henry, the destroyer played in first two games and picked two Four-wicket hauls. He will not play 3rd ODI to make a way for returning fast bowler Tim Southee. But, Matt Henry will play last ODI’s.

Kane Williamson will captain in T20I series against Srilanka.
