The Sanjeev Goenka-owned New Rising consortium has won ownership rights of Rajkot IPL Team. The name for new franchise Rajkot to announce soon before the player action in February 2015. Rajkot IPL team name anticipated for revealing on January 2015.

With new rules of IPL Council, Both Rajkot and Pune team have signed top five players from CSK and RR in IPL Draft. Pune had the first pick in Draft and sealed MS Dhoni, then Rajkot went for Suresh Raina. At the end of IPL Draft 2015, Rajkot team went for four Chennai Super Kings and one Rajasthan Royals players. The other players from CSK and RR to be auctioned, which is going to take place in February 2016.
