Kevin Pietersen likely to retire after BBL 2018 – Scooptimes

One of the talented and most lovable cricket player from England, Kevin Pietersen likely to play his last cricket tournament as cricketer in the Big Bash League.

“I am definitely coming to the end of my playing time. So I am definitely going to enjoy the last few digs. It’s fairly close. It’s the practice that you look at and you just think, ‘do I want to do it? I’ve still got the energy at the moment but it’s dwindling”, Pietersen told cricket.com.au.

After losing 5-0 in the 2013-14 Ashes series, he was removed from the squad by ECB to rebuild the new team. Since then, he is playing domestic T20 leagues around the world. He signed his contract with Melbourne Stars till the end of BBL 2018 in 2016 January.

Pietersen did not play the Indian Premier League in 2017 due to the commitments with Surrey. The upcoming BBL season will be the fourth season for KP with Melbourne Stars, but he admitted that he will likely to end his cricketing career after this tournament.

“I’m coming to the end of my career. My career is not going to be defined on how I play in the Big Bash. My career has already been defined by all my ups and downs though a long career. It’s my job to come here and help others, help the youngsters, be a good influence, be a positive influence on the team. That’s what I’ve done for three or four years”, he said.

The upcoming season of Big Bash League will starts from 19th December, 2017 and ends on 4th February, 2018. He played 104 Tests, 136 ODIs and 37 T20Is and has scored 8181 runs, 4440 runs and 1176 runs respectively. He has 32 International centuries to his name.
