Pakistan- danger of losing qualification for WC 2019 – Scooptimes

After Australia tour of Sri lanka and Paksitan tour of England there has been many changes in the ODI rankings released by ICC on september 4 2016.

England won the series against Paksitan by 4-1 and Australia too won in the same ratio against Sri lanka, these made both Asian team to demote in the Rankings.

Australia, the top-ranked ODI team, have taken their points  to 124 and New Zealand is placed second with 113 points. India and South africa is in 3rd and 4th place respectively.

Though England won in huge ratio they gained just one point and are in 5th position

Despite the series loss, Sri Lanka, who lost one point, have managed to hold on to the sixth position. Pakistan lost one point to register their lowest-ever points tally since the introduction of the current rankings system in 2001. With 86 points, Pakistan is in 9th postion with 8 points behind West Indies, who are currently placed eighth.

Pakistan are in danger of losing direct qualification for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 with only a year left for the cut-off period to end for the 50-over event. Hosts England and the seven top teams will have an direct qualification for the World Cup while the remaining two sides will be determined following the outcome of the qualification event in Bangladesh in 2018, which will feature 10 teams.

Anyhow, if Pakistan manages to win the upcoming series against West Indies and New zealand then West Indies the Current T20 champions will be in danger spot for the qualification. West Indies had already lost their place for  Champions trophy in England next year
