South Africa Women’s squad for Women’s World T20I – Scooptimes

South Africa will play three T20Is against West Indies in March before Women’s World T20 to be held in India next month. With the same squad that will play againt West Indies, will play the Women’s World Cup.

South Africa Women’s coach Hilton Moreeng feels South Africa have picked their squad based on the conditions in sub-continent and believes their side making it to the knockout of the World T20I tournament.

Mooren said,”It’s a well-balanced squad with lots of experience and a bit of youth. We’ve given ourselves the best chance to play well and compete, as well as to qualify for the knock out phase.”

“The fact that our first three series in the Women’s Championship were in the sub-continent has helped us a lot in terms of getting players used to those kinds of conditions and pitches. Eighty percent of the squad going to the World T20 has been exposed to sub-continent conditions, especially India, so there won’t be too many players who will be experiencing the conditions for the first time,” Mooren added.

South Africa are in Group A along with Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Sri Lanka, and will play their first match against Australia in Nagpur on March 18.
