Anil Kumble could not score his second Test hundred due to Sehwag – Scooptimes

Former Indian team opener Virender Sehwag and captain Anil Kumble were one of the most important players of the team at their time. Both Sehwag and Kumble helped Indian team to win several matches. No one can underestimate the power of Kumble with the bat as he scored 2500 Test runs with five 50’s and a century. He could have scored another century in Test format but according to Kumble, he fell short to achieve this because of Virender Sehwag.

He was close to another century in 2007/08 Border-Gavaskar series at Adelaide while playing in the fourth test. He was batting at 87 and India lost 9 wickets at the team break. After the break, he was dismissed by Australian speed star Mitchell Johnson.

Reviewing the occurrence amid a show composed by Star Sports, Kumble said: “Ishant was batting and we were nine down. I came back at tea time and I was batting at 87. So, he came to me at tea and said what are you doing, why are you taking so much time. Just go for it and the first ball I went for it, I got out and I was out 87.”
