Lasith Malinga returned to play cricket – Scooptimes

The King of Yorkers from Sri Lanka, Lasith Malinga returned to the squad for the T20I series against Australia. The series will starts from February 17. Malinga, who missed almost 1 year, now back to play cricket. He last played for Sri Lanka was against UAE on Feb 25, 2016 in Asia Cup 2016.

The all-rounder Angelo Mathews has been ruled of the series due to injury. He suffered the injury during the 2nd T20I against South Africa at Johannesberg. Dinesh Chandimal, who is in poor form, has been dropped from the squad. Now, Upul Tharanga will captain the side in the absence of Mathews.

Sri Lanka, who recently won the T20I series against South Africa, now takes Australia. When last time Sri Lanka met Australia, Maxwell scored 145 off 65 balls. Australia scored an highest ever total of 263-5 at pallekele. And Australia whitewashed Sri Lanka in last September. While Australia’s senior players preparing for Test series against India, Australia will play with young players.
